Description:

A nebulizer, commonly called an inhaler, is a device used to treat respiratory conditions in the lower airways (bronchi, lungs). Inhaler treatment is known as aerosol therapy (nebulization therapy) and is particularly indicated for asthma and bronchitis.

It involves introducing medications into the respiratory system, transformed from a liquid to an aerosol state. When air enters the nebulizer, it converts the prescribed medication into an aerosol mist for easy inhalation. An aerosol is a state of matter intermediate between a liquid and a gaseous state; its composition, therefore, is made up of particles that are neither as dispersed as those of a gas nor as concentrated as those of a liquid. The particles that make up the aerosol must be very small, just a few microns in size (one micron = one thousandth of a millimeter), to prevent them from reforming and returning to a liquid state.

The administration of medication in aerosol form allows it to reach the last bronchial endings and the pulmonary alveoli, ensuring greater effectiveness in the treatment of pathologies.
