Rosemary is a highly branched shrub up to 1.8 meters tall with small, thin leaves and blue and white flowers. The entire plant exudes a very pleasant aroma. The essential oil distilled from the herb is nearly colorless. Rosemary has five known chemotypes: camphor, verbenone, borneol, pinene, and cineole. According to Robert Tisserand, rosemary oil is analgesic, antispasmodic, astringent, cephalic, cicatrizant, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, hepatic, hypertensive, nervine, stimulant, stomachic, and sudorific.
