Description:
It is inserted through the mouth or nose into the stomach or intestine when, for some reason, the patient cannot use their mouth during the digestive process. It is used to administer medications and food directly into the gastrointestinal tract and for gastric lavage. Short nasogastric tubes are inserted into the stomach, while long nasogastric tubes are inserted into the intestinal tract. They are connected to a feeding device , which is connected to the feeding bottle, or the tubes can be connected to a syringe.
